FLAGC

FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF GENETIC COUNSELORS

membership benefits

FLAGC has two types of memberships: Full and Associate. All full and associate members must live or work in Florida.
See below for requirements for full and associate memberships.

Individuals interested in being involved with FLAGC, but who don’t qualify for membership may join as an FLAGC Affiliate.

If you have any questions about what membership level is appropriate for you, please email membership@floridagenetics.org or send a message through our contact page.

Full Members:

An individual becomes eligible to become a Full Member by holding a degree from a Master’s program established for the training of genetic counselors or any individual who is board eligible or board certified in genetic counseling. Full Members must also be members of NSGC.

Full Members may attend all meetings, vote, serve on the Board of Directors, hold an elected office, and serve on, or chair, committees.

Associate Members:

An individual becomes eligible to become an Associate Member by being enrolled in a Master’s program established for the training of genetic counselors, being an active candidate or certified by the ABMG, being credentialed by the Genetic Nursing Credentialing Commission of International Society of Nurses in Genetics (ISONG) or through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or being a professional in the state of Florida with job responsibilities related to clinical genetics.

Associate Members may attend all open meetings and serve on committees. Associate Members may not attend closed meetings, vote, serve on the board of directors, be elected officers or chair committees.

Affiliates:

Affiliates are individuals who are not a formal part of our organization, but would like to receive periodic emails regarding FLAGC announcements. Examples of individuals who may want to join as an affiliate: individuals interested in the genetic counseling profession not enrolled in a Master’s program established for the training of genetic counselors, scientists or practitioners who do not practice clinical genetics, and employees of genetic testing laboratories who do not qualify for Membership.  Affiliates can be located outside of Florida.  Affiliates will not be listed in our public directory.
